Yanamak Kajuyalí is a sustainable project for the reconstruction of a lodging space in La Guajira. It is located on the beach near Carrizal and the Arema community, providing them with an employment opportunity. The project was designed in this location to create a space away from traditional tourism, fostering a respectful and sensitive connection between the desert, tourists, and the local community. “Yanamak” is a Wayuu term that symbolizes minga, a word that represents gathering with a porpuse, such as building a school, a ranch, harvesting salt, or fishing with a trammel net. The handcrafted cabins were built using Yotojoro, a local cactus, and constructed by the Wayuu people, honoring their expertise with local, easily manageable materials.
